Yes it's happened, 240 orphans now sleep in a bunk bed with a mattress and pillow at a cost of $15,000 because local Tasmanians cared.

Stage Three

Now, around 80 people now have a roof over their heads with the completion of 10 houses in November last year at a cost of $35,000. We say thanks for your part in making a difference.

Between June and December we embark on Part Four of the project at a cost of $70,000. At the time of launching this we already have $13,000 promised, leaving $57,000 to go.

Stage 4 includes:
  1. Provision of a further 30 triple bunk beds for orphans - $5,000.00

  2. Medical support for 1 year for 20 children with Aids - $4,000.00

  3. Medical assistance of a young man, to enable him to walk unaided - $2,000.00 (see photo)

  4. Provision of a community hall/undercover area for 300 orphan children to have their meals under cover. This is approx a 60 metre building. Currently the children eat their meals outdoors in all weathers, monsoons or scorching sun. -  $55,000.00

Local man John Fowler has oversighted the first three projects and personally been to India each time at his own cost to facilitate the dream so far. He will again head back in November and hopefully train a young person to continue these valuable projects.

For those who receive this letter prior to 30/6/09 and are interested, full tax deductibility is available from "HADA" who handle the financial side of this humanitarian project. If you, the reader feel that you would like to assist, the sponsorship options are as follows:

Interestingly when sharing the plight of these poor folk with the wife of a high level public servant, her suggestion was, "why don't you just forget about these people and care for the whales? There were dozens stranded recently and not enough people to help. What you're doing can't really make a difference". Readers I assure you together, we do make a difference and what's more, 100% of all monies donated is fully accounted for and is audited in India and all administration costs are funded by the organisers.

If you feel inclined to pitch in, please contact Kay Penney, John Fowler, Gavin Kuipers, or Dennis Austin. Receipts will be provided by HADA to ensure integrity, accountability and tax deductibility for the project.

If this is for you, don't delay. The more bunks, medical support and roof area for the comfort of the children to have meals under, the greater the difference we can make. Your hard earned money will be put to good use. Monies can be paid in over the next 4 months if this assists with your budgeting.

There is room for either one or two people to travel to India to participate at their own expense at the end of November/early December this year to oversight the progress of the project. The estimated cost will be around $3,500 all inclusive. It will be a trip unimaginable.

Together our small contributions make a big difference, even to just one child.
